Increased Digital Scrutiny Is a Reality

Many travellers and visa applicants are concerned about:

  • Historic social media posts

  • Political commentary

  • Old jokes taken out of context

  • Forum discussions

  • Reddit activity

  • Posts shared by others

  • What others have said about them

Even content from years ago can resurface.

The uncertainty creates anxiety.

We help remove that uncertainty.

A Surface Search Won’t Show You Everything

Searching your name online only reveals part of the picture.

Automated AI tools:
  • Wrongly identify you

  • Confuse similar names

  • Fail to interpret context

  • Overlook niche platforms and apps

  • Don’t assess potential perception risks

ThistleFinder conducts a background-grade digital review — built on the same methodology used in corporate and government screening environments

Why Digital Footprint Matters for U.S. Travel

U.S. immigration officers may review public online content when considering entry.
Many travellers are unaware that:

  • Posts, comments, or forum activity can be accessed
  • Others’ mentions and tags may be visible
  • Cached or archived content can resurface
  • AI or search engines do not show the full picture
ThistleFinder goes deeper to help you understand your digital footprint before departure.

Feedback from the customer on his
Thistle Finder Self Check Report:

I didn’t realise that dating profiles could be found. I don’t even think you can search for specific people on Tinder. It was interesting to see that all my photos were completely public as well as the place I studied, workplace and age. These are pretty standard pieces of information to show on the profile, but the fact that the information isn’t exclusive to users on the app was a surprise.

I had never thought about my Steam account being public. There isn’t a lot of information on there, but my friend list and how many games I own as well as some achievements are all displayed for anyone to see.

I knew about two of the LinkedIn profiles, but a third one I forgot I even made. I was even more surprised to see that it was still ‘active’ and hadn’t been deleted.

I didn’t realise how a post discussing politics could affect travel plans. I had forgotten about news reports where people had been denied entry or arrested at borders. The report reminded me of my post and the risk that comes with it. Super helpful considering I have travelled in the past and want to plan trips in the future.
